Perth, People, Place

The first stage of an ambitious city-wide cycle network, aiming to improve links between Perth and the surrounding areas

Putting people at the heart of Perth

Connecting the neighbourhoods of Bertha Park, Inveralmond and Muirton to the City Centre, improvements along Perth’s ‘Motor Mile’ will include reallocation of parts of the A912 duel-carriageway to create a fully segregated bi-directional cycle-lane and widened foot-ways along the length of the road.

Safer routes to school

Journeys for young people at Balhousie and North Muirton Primaries, North Inch Community Campus and Perth Grammar will all be made safer, thanks to an increased number of signalled crossings and widened footways. Local residents will find it easier to reach North Inch and the city centre.

Gateway to the North

Residents to the north of Perth will benefit, with a proposed bridge connecting to National Cycle Network Route 77 and upgraded connections to Stanley and Luncarty. Those looking for a day out rather than a trip to work will be able to continue north on existing routes to Dunkeld and Pitlochry.

“a major change to Dunkeld Road that will benefit not only walking and cycling but also the community as we aim to improve air quality"

Councillor Murray Lyle, Leader of Perth & Kinross Council
